Established in 1970, the Selangor and Federal Territory Engineering and Motor Parts Traders’ Association (EMPTA) consists of more than 1,100 members companies involved in the manufacturing, wholesale and retail of automotive parts and components.
Ranging from public-listed companies (PLCs) to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as micro enterprises, EMPTA members are directly involved in the supply chain of parts and components for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles and industrial equipment. Within the supply chain, they play a crucial role in both the original equipment (OE), original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and aftermarket sectors.
The Malaysian automotive parts and components market is valued at more than 30 billion ringgit annually, with Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur as a foremost hub of the industry. According to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the region accounts for close to 50% of the total industry volume (TIV) of Malaysia.
EMPTA has been working with the government and various stakeholders on policy and programmes related to our industry. In addition, we are also committed to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and charity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, EMPTA had raised over half a million ringgit in just a few months to aid 12 hospitals nationwide in fighting the pandemic, other than organizing vaccination programme to help accelerate herd immunity in the country.
