Engine oil certification enforcement briefing

EMPTA was honoured to welcome Tuan Peter Berinus Agang, Director of Intellectual Property Section, Enforcement Division, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), together with his officers, and Ts. Hasnol Zakaria, SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd’s Head of Industrial & Consumer Certification Section 2, together with his team, to EMPTA for an important industry engagement session on the latest developments regarding the implementation and enforcement of the Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marking of Engine Oil for Motor Vehicle) Order 2024.

During the session on 20 July 2026, EMPTA members had the valuable opportunity to engage directly with KPDN and SIRIM representatives, seek clarification, and share practical challenges faced by businesses. Key topics discussed included supply chain responsibilities, e-commerce trading activities, existing stock management, complaint handling, and enforcement actions against non-compliance.

We sincerely thank KPDN and SIRIM for their openness and commitment in engaging with EMPTA members. Together, we will continue working towards a regulatory framework that protects consumers while promoting a fair, competitive, and sustainable automotive aftermarket industry.
