EMPTA’s Head of Welfare Sub-committee, Fifi Leong, presented a cheque to H.E. Emir Salim Yüksel, the Ambassador of Turkiye to Malaysia, at the T.C. Kuala Lumpur Büyükelçiliği – Turkish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur. This donation, totaling RM30,700, was raised over a period of approximately ten days from EMPTA members to support the victims of the earthquake in Turkiye.
Ambassador Yüksel informed that the rescue operation had concluded, and the focus was now on reconstruction, which was estimated to require about one year. The most urgent needs for the victims included shelters (40-foot containers with windows and doors), mobile toilets, and mobile shower rooms.
In a second donation effort, EMPTA’s Head of Welfare Sub-committee, Fifi Leong, handed another cheque to Mr. Sinan Cem Baş, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Turkish Embassy, after collecting an additional RM20,000 contribution from EMPTA members. This brought the total donation from EMPTA members to RM50,700 to aid the earthquake victims in Turkiye.
