EMPTA Chairman Kau Peng Yap, Assistant Secretary General Darren Wong, Treasurer Eric Oon and Chief Administrative Officer Chai Chee Fatt met Francesco Floris, First Counsellor and Head of Section of Trade and Economic Relations as well as Pekka Penttila, Trade and Economic Attache at the office of Delegation of the European Union to Malaysia on 5 October 2022.
Both sides exchanged information and views on the development of automotive industry in Europe and Malaysia.
Counsellor Floris is committed to link EMPTA with the related European business community. EMPTA expressed support for a European Union-Malaysia free trade agreement that would benefit the end users in Malaysia given the import duty of up to 30% imposed on European automotive parts currently.
